September: the end of things?

It's cold. Really cold. Did we have a summer? Bah!

Yesterday I cleaned out the chicken coop and the bantam run... And the rabbit hutch.

This morning, after a rare lie in, I went up to the plot to let the chooks up and feed everything. I decided to dig up the last of the potatoes; we've been eating them for months and the rows don't seem to be going down! Some have gone over to slugs and whatnot, but a bit of a bumper crop is now drying in my shed.

I also picked a feast of runner beans, as well as Cherokee Trail of Tears beans, some of which I will save for next year.

I have been letting the last of the broad beans dry on the plants and these too have been picked and saved for next year.

A hard morning's work, I think I deserve a big breakfast now!
